Thanks to California's overturning bigoted, outdated marriage laws, my partner and I were able to get married yesterday! Now we're not partners.

It was such an incredible thing, and it happened so fast... and I'm so happy! My father is thrilled for us, as is my mom. Most other friends and family are also happy for us.

We're having a church wedding in December, but we are just so happy to finally be legally married and part of history.

I'm not coping.

Specifically, he has liver cancer. End-stage liver cancer. Three large lesions on his liver.

They told him there's nothing they can do. They say he has about a year. I am falling apart.

Damn it, he was supposed to see me get my Ph.D. That's four years away still.
